SPRING QUALITY

Warms you through and keeps you warm.
A chloride spring known as the “hot water that holds its heat.”

The waters of Tateyama are a mildly alkaline natural hot spring rich in minerals from the sea. The salt envelops your skin like a thin veil, gently sealing in warmth after you leave the bath. That is why it warms you thoroughly and you do not cool down easily, and why it has long been called the “hot water that holds its heat” (netsu no yu). The smooth, soft, mildly alkaline water also gently loosens old dead skin cells, making it a “beauty-skin bath” as well. Ideal for your skin after a day at the sea, or when you feel chilled.

SAHO — HOW TO ONSEN

Bathing Like a Connoisseur

Make the most of the “hot water that holds its heat” with five bathing tips that draw out its full benefits.

  1. 01KAKEYU

    Rinse first to acclimatize

About 10 scoops, starting from the feet, farthest from the heart. Cleanse your body and adjust to the temperature before entering the tub.

  2. 02HANSHIN-YOKU

    Start with a half-body soak

Soak up to your solar plexus for 2–3 minutes. This eases the strain on the heart before you move on to a full soak.

  3. 03BUNKATSU-YOKU

    Soak in short sessions

At first, soak for 3–10 minutes, 2–3 times, with rests in between. This increases the warming effect more than one long soak.

  4. 04AGARI-YU

    Skip the final rinse

The salt film is a natural moisturizing veil. Connoisseurs skip the shower and simply pat dry with a towel.

  5. 05HITO-YASUMI

A glass of water and 30 minutes of rest

After bathing, drink a glass of water. Rest in the lounge, looking out at the sea.

* Based on the “Method of bathing and precautions” in the hot spring analysis report. The elderly, and people with high blood pressure, heart disease or a history of stroke, should avoid hot baths of 42℃ or higher. Please also avoid bathing after drinking alcohol or immediately before or after meals.

Please apply for a private panoramic bath at check-in.

There are only two private panoramic baths on the third floor, and they are free. Please apply at the front desk at check-in after you arrive. If you are planning an anniversary celebration, we recommend arriving early.
